A beautiful vintage car, much in demand today, is the SEAT 600, in its day called the ‘Pelotilla‘ (little ball). It was a Spanish built car, manufactured under license from FIAT, and was produced from 1957 to 1973. Nearly 800,000 SEAT 600s came off the conveyor belts, mostly for drivers in Spain, but also for export markets like Argentina, Mexico, Poland and Finland.
In the Sixties, a car like that would have sold for something like 60,000 Pesetas. At that price it was the first car within the modest economic capabilities of the average Spanish family.
One can see quite a number of these little cars on the road today in Spain, and also in Mallorca, often lovingly restored to their former glory. A prime example like the one in today’s photo could achieve quite a handsome Euros pricetag if ever it came up for sale.
The photo was taken in Felanitx, Mallorca, Spain. The date: September 10th, 2008. The time was 09:13:30.
