On the topic of the facelift, I like the changes on the front which are subtle but fine with me. Although I can't see a clear shot, I'm not sure I like the new rear end. Anybody has a clearer shot of the rear end?

There is definitely a tech upgrade coming. Look at this spy pic. The fact that they are covering the dash suggests a new display hopefully a larger display, but could just be a CLA style display. Also there is a touch controller in the place where the iDrive copycat wheel normally is. Also I'm not that familiar with the dash shape but it looks like there is a notch behind the instrument cluster canopy which may suggest HUD.
The one disappointment is they still have those rubbish needle tipped gauges instead of a full needle like on C and S class models.
Another disappointment is that the radio controls look like the legacy ones instead of the new ones on the S Class and 2015 C Class. This may indicate its still running embrace 2.

Another update on CLS63 a-AMG
Exterior styling looks gorgeous
- M5 style side vents
- Larger front intakes
- Sexy CLA style grille
- more muscular rear bumper
Interior enhancements
- Larger floating Nav screen in the new CLS.
- Possibly HUD since MB is offering that on the upcoming C Class so I have to believe the CLS LCI will have it.
- However unfortunately still same crappy instrument cluster but you can live with that if they have HUD
The 2015 CLS63 is looking like a winner when you combine these enhancements with that 3.5 second 0-60 from its 585hp AWD powertrain

Sounds like the HUD is coming on the S and C class first with other models presumably to follow in the future. Personally I'd like the option to have it, it can always be turned off if desired. Even though it may be less distracting to some compared to looking at the instrument panel, since less of a shift in gaze is required, it does require the eye to refocus far in front of the action thus remains a distraction. It's wishful thinking but would be nice if M-B would offer a retrofit of older models with the HUD, as it is probably just a new electronic module, software, and projector.
I still don't see a major redesign in the CLS tech until a major new body style is introduced. The 2015 model may well have the larger LCD display of the CLA which is basically a tack-on... While the extra size will be nice it won't look as nice unless properly integrated into the overall design of the dashboard which would require all the controls to be redesigned. And I don't see that happening in what otherwise is a pretty minor facelift. The exterior changes (grills, bumpers, etc) look extremely minor and not necessarily and improvement, just a slight change. I had expected the exhaust tips to be redone a la the E63 but maybe not.
For those who want a little more tech in their current model, get a Kuda base and mount for smartphone or pad. I just installed the Carcomm Multi-Basys CMBS system which has interchangeable docks for various devices. So I can use it to hold and charge my iPhone, or put an iPad on it giving it a Tesla-type screen. It works with LTE speed, not stuck on outdated 3G like Tesla. I can use Google Earth in satellite mode to follow me, play video, whatever. Tesla disables all video on theirs. And personally I think most controls are most conveniently and quickly handled via buttons like MB uses, rather than complex touch screen or menu gestures.
I'll post a pic later. Install was easy, I just hid the power line behind the ambient LED strip and spliced it into the switched +12v line for the glove compartment light by the right door. It didn't require any non-reversible change to the car, the mount is brilliantly designed and holds in place firm with no screws or anything just metal plates that slip between sections of the dash. It looks professionally installed and took less than 30 minutes for me to do.

I'm not too keen on MB's trend to turn sharp lines into roundness, but that seems to be the direction they're heading.

Yep. The CLS 63 has the traditional transmission lever in the center console. My only gripe is the screen - it looks really cheap, and it better be retractable. It's not very Mercedes like, looks like it's straight out of the new Mazda 3

the large screen is ok ONLY if the telematics are greatly improved, otherwise it's just a larger display of outdated technology

hate the ipad-like screen just stuck there. why doesn't benzo wait to install such a conveyance when they upgrade the interiour properly instead of this cut and paste approach. looks awful. on a positive note - i wont feel compelled to buy up into the '15 like i normally would do. saved me stacks of cash! yay,

I like that color and the added chrome on the front end, but otherwise, except for some minor differences, looks the same as my '12, nothing too exciting
