Classic Cadillac Eye Candy
Pictured above is the iconic 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. It’s towering tail fins made quite a splash and when this car hit the showrooms. It’s audacious design coupled with low production numbers make it highly collectible today.
This Argyle Blue metallic stunner underwent restoration by Cadillac Parts and Restoration (CPR) and sixty years after it hit the road it still runs and looks as well as it did when it left the dealer.
Cadillac’s bulbous and bold styling of its 1950s models is evident in the 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz pictured above. In 1956, Cadillac began to offer the top-of-the-line Eldorado in a hardtop form in addition to the already existing convertible. To differentiate between the two the hardtops were dubbed “Seville” while the convertibles maintained the “Biarritz” moniker.
The owner of the above-pictured 1936 Cadillac is indeed an aficionado of the luxury brand. In addition to this award-winning project, he trusted CPR’s Cadillac restoration team to restore his 1940 Cadillac as well. In addition, CPR stored, maintained and transported this stunner.
While still prominent, the tail fins of Cadillacs 1961 models foretold the demise of the design feature. Downsized from the 1959 and 1960 model years, the days of the fins were numbered.
This 1961 Cadillac Series 62 convertible was recently restored for the President of General Motors and is a First Place winner at the prestigious Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National Meet. It now resides in its place of birth and is driven regularly around the Detroit area.
Representing the styling that makes late-1950s Cadillacs quite popular today, these two classics capture plenty of attention whether standing still or cruising down the boulevard.
The 1957 Eldorado Biarritz is the first of three restoration projects that CPR completed for its owner and is Cadillac’s pinnacle of luxury offerings. The big-finned 1959 Cadillac has great sentimental value behind it as it was passed down from a father to son. Due to the diligent care provided over its life, only a partial restoration was required. Despite not being a “frame-off” project, it’s won First Place honors at Antique Automobile Club of America and Cadillac & LaSalle Club Grand National meets, GoodGuys East Coast Nationals and the Hemmings Motor News, Greenwich (CT) and Fairfield (CT) concours events.
You’re probably asking how this beautiful Buick slipped into this article. Well, this car belongs to a loyal CPR Cadillac restoration customer and although the Standard of the World brand is our specialty, we bend over backwards for our customers and were delighted to be trusted with this project. While the quality of this 1956 Buick Roadmaster restoration is museum-worthy, this is no trailer queen and is driven regularly.
