1964 Pontiac Mid-Size Cars Facts Specifications Information Data

For 1967, the styling was cleaned up but changed just a bit, in anticipation of the totally new models for 1968. The Cutlass Supreme line increased to a full spectrum of models from the Club Coupe to the Convertible.

Olds Mid-Size in 1967 – Refinement and Performance

Like Buick, Oldsmobile wanted to move upstream and capture more affluent buyers, but at the same time emphasize performance. The Cutlass Supreme line was fully expanded and the F-85 Deluxe was deleted with the standard F-85 line was reduced to three models.

General Year Information – 1967 Oldsmobile Mid-Size Cars Facts

The F-85 continued to be the base series, but Olds intermediate buyers were ordering more luxury with their cars and Cutlass models became more popular. As such, the F-85 Deluxe was discontinued and the Cutlass model took its place. This upscale version, the Cutlass was now the most popular series in the line – beginning its climb that would take it to the most popular nameplate for a U.S. built car. The Cutlass Supreme was the senior series now, with a full set of models from the Sport Coupe to the 4-door hardtop Sedan. It was now the only series in which the popular 4-4-2 and the high-mile per gallon Turnpike Cruiser option were available.

The Tri-Carb option was gone, due to a GM-wide mandate that only the Corvette could receive multiple carburetion, but the W-30 option was still very potent and now available to all buyers not just racers. It was not available on the Convertible, however.

NOTE: Vista Cruiser was considered a special separate model line and is not covered here.

From now on, the W-30 package would be available from the factory as an option and available to all. It contained all the parts for the outside air induction system, a special Quadra-jet carb, plus a special 308° camshaft and springs. The W-30 parts/pieces could also be ordered as a dealer-installed kit. See the 1967 Service Bulletin listing the W-30 package specs HERE.

New for all 400 CID equipped mid-size cars was the availability of the famous Turbo 400 Hydramatic transmission. It was mandatory when a 400 CID V-8 was ordered with auto trans, and optional on the Vista Cruiser with the 330 CID V-8.

442 – The 442 option, was now delineated by its own numbering system and considered a separate line. It was available trimmed only as a Cutlass Supreme: Sports Coupe, Holiday Hardtop Coupe, and Convertible  Key in the 442 was the 350 HP 400 CID V-8 and the handling package. All 442s, regardless of model line were distinguished by the traditional 442 emblems in the grille, rear fascia, and rear fenders. The grille also was unique with a thin single horizontal bar and a blacked out center section.

Optional was the W-30 performance package, that still featured outside air induction (intake between the parking lights,  blueprinted motor, and special camshaft and valve springs. 504 were sold in 1967.

Turnpike Cruiser Package Option Code W-28 – This package was essentially a 442 with a 2.56:1 rear axle, the new T-400 automatic transmission, and a special Option L-66 400 CID, and 2-barrel carburetor V-8.
