1970 Mazda RX2
The Wankel Rotary Engine was a blessing that never quite caught on in the motor world. Mazda got behind it and produced some fine cars through the 70’s and 80’s. They continued only one production car through to today, which was the RX7, which then became the RX8. Credit to Mazda, who continued to refine the Wankel Rotary Engine, to a point where today they pump out some serious power standard.

My favourite hands down would be this, the RX2. It came out with a standard 12A at 120bhp, and you could buy it in either two or four door. The two door coupe had 130bhp produced from the standard 13B engine.
Through the course of the 90’s and 00’s, these Rotarys, and most others from that time, have become hot property and much sort after. In little old New Zeland we where lucky enough to have many of these cars imported from Japan, and due to our rather lax and out of control laws on car modification, these have turned from 70’s family cars, to this..
