Guards Red Porsche Carrera GT 780 Miles on Bring A Trailer Front

Gorgeous Guards Red Carrera GT has only 780 original miles. Now, this V10 Masterpiece is looking for a new home via Bring A Trailer.

The Porsche Carrera GT is a car that needs no introduction, but its legacy and specs are just too good to refrain from repeating. This glorious Porsche halo car features a mid-mounted 605 horsepower V10 that is often referred to as one of the best sounding engines ever made. Porsche only produced 1,270 of these beauties. The chance to own one is very rare, and their prices are skyrocketing. However, if you’re in the market for a collector’s grade example, we have great news.

This beautiful Guards Red Carrera GT is currently listed for sale on Bring A Trailer. It has only 780 original miles, and it even includes the original books, keys, and the fitted Porsche luggage set originally delivered with the car. However, budget shoppers need not apply. At the time of writing, this CGT has seven days remaining and has already amassed 14 bids. The highest of which is $1.6 Million.

Carrera GT: A Tale of Critical Acclaim and Notorious Handling Characteristics

Each Carrera GT had a six-speed manual transaxle mated to the roaring V10. Upon its release, it was critically acclaimed as a car that delivers an experience like none other. However, the Porsche Carrera GT is notoriously hard to drive and requires a very experienced driver to push it to what it’s truly capable of. Unfortunately, its driving difficulty is what led to an accident that would drag the Carrera GT’s name into infamy, especially when dressed in Guards Red. That incident, of course, is the death of The Fast and The Furious actor Paul Walker and professional racing driver Roger Rodas. Their untimely deaths serve as a constant reminder that this car is no joke. Even drivers with plenty of experience struggle with the Carrera GT.

Further proof is in a 2004 episode of Top Gear. Their notorious professional racing driver known as The Stig struggled to keep the Carrera GT happy on track.

Most recently, a Carrera GT modified by Gemballa met its fate in New York City in 2020. Owner Ben Chen, who was allegedly under the influence at the time, hit a multitude of parked cars before police put an end to his joyride. However, it’s not really fair to blame the car in this case.

Collectors Item or Relentless Track Weapon, the Carrera GT is Climbing Rapidly In Value No Matter Its Use

Ultimately, its minimal production (and continuously depleting numbers) make the Carrera GT a highly desirable investment for car collectors. In February 2020, a relatively high-mileage example gathered a final bid of $576.000 on Bring A Trailer. Just 19 months after, in September 2021, another example sold for $1.31 million. However, that example had only 2,700 miles on it.

There’s not much we can say about the condition other than it’s exactly what you’d expect. This car is in perfect shape because it was purchased to be stored as an investment. Which, unfortunately, means the next owner is likely to keep this beast of a car chained up and locked away as well. Pity.

So, we’ll definitely be watching this Carrera GT see how much it sells for. According to Classic, the current record for a Carrera GT is the $1.31 million sale earlier this year. So, as long as this one’s deal goes through, it will become the most expensive Carrera GT ever sold.

For now.
