Texas Department of Public Safety

Texas Department of Public Safety's Patch

(Dallas, TX) – 11/27/2022 – The SCPoliceCruisers Team has officially made its inaugural visit to the Lone Star State – and we couldn’t be more appreciative of the Southern hospitality we received from the agencies in the Dallas and Houston portions of the state. At first, you’re probably wondering why Texas? That’s a great question. If you haven’t heard by now, the Texas Department of Public Safety has been trending across social media platforms after seizing a 2020 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye boasting over 1,000 Horsepower. No, that’s not a typo! This beast was seized after evading the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety on multiple occasions. But, with the help of a local aviation unit, the perpetrator was finally arrested, and the vehicle has since been transitioned into one of the hottest patrol vehicles we have seen.

It’s safe to say that the Texas Highway Patrol’s Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye is one of the fastest marked patrol units in America. Everything really is just a little bigger in Texas – including horsepower.  But, after our visit, I can safely say that I was impressed with everything the Texas Department of Public Safety has to offer. The men and women wearing the Texas Tan represent an incredibly diverse state that is comprised of beautiful landscapes ranging from coastlines along the Gulf of Mexico, to cattle ranches, to prairies, and the large metroplex areas that tourists like myself come to visit.

As most of us know, Texas is a very Pro-Law Enforcement state.  This is helping attract top talent from across the country who all want a chance to carve out their own happiness in the Lone Star State.  Couple that with competitive pay, top notch equipment, and an agency that pro-actively invests in its employees, and you’ve got a win/win. Honestly, what’s not to love? In fact, did you know that the Texas Department of Public Safety, which once ran a fleet of Sedans, specifically transitioned to SUV’s to reduce the risk of injury to Troopers involved in traffic collisions? If that wasn’t enough, the agency also makes sure that its cruisers come with reinforced ballistic panels and glass to maximize Trooper safety and eliminate the risk of ambushes.
