SCOTTBURGH BOWLING CLUB

Beautiful weather makes for perfect bowls

THERE were some beautiful days this week and perfect bowling weather for much the normal weekly games.
Rain still interrupted a ladies nominated pairs match on Tuesday, April 9, but preliminary games for the men’s competition on Wednesday enjoyed great weather.
On Thursday last week, the monthly men’s 2-4-2 competition had a good turn-out and there were some great games.
The second session winners this month was the team of Mike Robertson and Clive Holmes with a score of 2+8, and they took home vouchers from Scottburgh Motors.
The runners-up were Wayne van Nikkelen-Kuyper and David Wood with a score of 4+19, and received vouchers from John Dory’s.

The winning team was Corrie Pieters and Johan Buys with a magic 4+25, and they took away vouchers for Vertigos Restaurant and Bar.
On Thursday afternoon tabs-in voucher competition the winners were the side of Betty Bell, Berry Magee and Diane Haynes with a score of +10, and they received vouchers from Umdoni Park.
Last Friday the club welcomed Scottburgh Probus Club members so that they too could enjoy the sport and an amazing entertaining and fun afternoon was enjoyed by bowler, non-bowler and new ‘converts’.
On Saturday, April 13, the next rounds of the men’s and ladies nominated pairs club championship were played.
The finals of both are to be played in the near future and should be great to watch (even if you are not yet a player).
On Sunday, April 14, the first ‘meet’ of the newly established Upper South Coast Nomads got together at Scottburgh Bowling Club.
Nomads play bowls at a different venue every month to raise money for different local charities and good causes.
There will be a special AGM on Thursday, April 25, called to discuss a grandstand roof on north green, changes to the constitution and dress code.
