SMART Learning Suite account sign-in
Sign in to your SMART account and how sign in works with premium features and subscriptions.
Sign in to your SMART account using the Google or Microsoft account that you use at your school. If don’t yet have a SMART account, see Setting up a SMART account.
Note
If you have trouble signing in, you might not have an active subscription to SMART Learning Suite. See Do I need to subscribe to SMART Learning Suite? and Do I need a product key to activate SMART Notebook?
To sign in to your SMART account
Open SMART Notebook 17 and select Account from the Notebook menu.
Select Sign in to open the sign in dialog box.
Enter your Google or Microsoft email address and click Next.
The SMART Account confirmation dialog box appears.
Sign in is required for creating and playing collaborative SMART lab activities and for creating and delivering SMART response 2 assessments.
With one-time sign in, you can:
Give students a persistent code for connecting to your SMART lab and response 2 activities: they won’t have to reconnect every time
Share lessons with your peers using an online link
Present your lessons on SMART Boards with iQ technology
Access premium features of Notebook after the trial period has ended
Important
If you skip a sign in prompt, you might not be able to use the activity that’s prompting you.
When using SMART Notebook, you will be prompted to sign in when you’re using:
The SMART lab Creation Wizard for the first time
The SMART response 2, Shout It Out! and Monster Quiz activities
The Hand out activity
With a SMART Learning Suite subscription, you can access SMART Notebook’s premium features after the trial period and receive product support.
You can download SMART Notebook for free, and all its features are enabled during the trial period. After the trial period ends, Notebook opens in limited mode: premium features are no longer accessible, and a watermark appears on the screen if you’re not using a SMART Board interactive display.
Subscribing to SMART Learning Suite gives you access to all Notebook features, and you can also access SMART Learning Suite Online: a mobile lesson delivery platform where you can store your SMART Notebook lessons in the cloud and create exclusive new SMART lab activities.
Note
If you can’t access premium features after signing in, make sure you’ve subscribed and that the subscription hasn’t expired.
Maybe—it depends on how you or your organization manages SMART Learning Suite subscriptions.
SMART has recently created a new software portal, available for Notebook 17 or later (17.1 recommended). If your subscription is active and your SMART account email address is linked to your subscription in the new portal, you no longer need a product key to activate Notebook software on your computer—just sign in to your SMART account. You can sign into and use SMART Notebook 17 on any computer or device on which it’s installed.
If your email address has not been linked to your subscription in the new portal or you're using a version of Notebook earlier than 17, your subscription is tied to the computer where you installed the software. SMART gave you or your technical administrator a product key for activating Notebook software on that computer. The product key was recorded on the SMART Learning Suite purchase order.
To get set up in the new portal
Ask your technical administrator to add your email address to your school’s subscription in the new software portal (this should be the same email you use with your SMART account). You must be using Notebook 17 or later (17.1 recommended).
If you purchased Notebook yourself, sign in to the new software portal and make the change described above using the email associated with your SMART account.
To find your product key
Check your sales confirmation email or the SMART software portal. If your school purchased the subscription, contact your procurement department or your technical support team to track down the key.
To register for a SMART account, you will need an existing Google or Microsoft account—ideally an account provided by your school for Google Suite or Microsoft Office 365.
Important
If you already have a Google or Microsoft account linked to a SMART application, use that email address to set up your SMART account. This will connect all your SMART applications through a single account.
If your school has provided a Google or Microsoft account, use that professional email address to set up your SMART account, rather than your personal email address.
- If your school hasn’t provided a Google or Microsoft account, and you haven’t created a personal one, set up an account before beginning the following procedure.
Open SMART Notebook 17 and select Account from the Notebook menu.
Select Sign in to open the sign in dialog box.
Select Create an account.
The SMART Account sign in dialog box appears. Select your account.
If you select Sign in with Google, you’re directed to the Google sign-in page.
Sign in to your Google account.
After signing in to your Google account, the SMART Account dialog box appears, indicating that you have been signed in.
OR
If you selected Sign in with Microsoft, you will be directed to the Microsoft sign in page.
Enter your account details and press Sign In.
After signing in to your Microsoft account, the SMART Account dialog box appears, indicating that you have been signed in.
