How Many Talladegas Exist?

UPDATED!

Every year around this time, we like to summarize the Registry totals. As usual, we will start off with the Talladega. The owners of the cars provided all the information for the Registered cars. However, for the cars included in the Registry as “Found” are based on information provided by others. The cars may have been found on eBay for sale or simply located on the street or at a car show. The owner provides the condition of the cars and we only include Registered cars in the condition chart.

Wimbledon White Talladega

The information included here is based on our records as of December 31, 2021. Where appropriate, I have also included results of our 2020 summary.

Ford Talladega Royal Maroon
Ford Talladega Presidential Blue

At the end of 2021, there were 183 total cars in the Registry. This includes 6 crushed cars which are included in the “Found” category.

  • 183 cars were registered and found.
  • 149 Talladegas were Registered.
  • Of the 149, 49 were Wimbleton White, 56 were Royal Maroon and 44 were Presidential Blue. Of the Found cars, 11 were Wimbleton White, 14 were Royal Maroon and 8 were Presidential Blue.
  • We should also note that several cars in the Registry have been repainted a color other than their original paint. All cars are recorded as their original color.
  • Only 5 additional Talladegas were registered in all of 2021.

In 2020 the total Registered cars in the Registry was 144.

The following list shows how many cars were reported by condition. It should be noted that I personally can verify that many of the cars have been improved/upgraded since being registered. I also know of a number of cars that have had ownership changes since the car was originally registered.

I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO UDATE THEIR REGISTRATION. I FOUND A TALLADEGA THIS YEAR THAT I KNOW AN INDIVIDUAL IS LOOKING FOR BUT I COULD NOT CONTACT THEM ABOUT ITS AVAILABILITY BECAUSE THEY HAD NOT UPDATED THEIR CONTACT INFO TO ME!

Keep checking back because we will soon bring you the results for Spoiler and Spoiler II cars!

Richard

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
