Bill Haag was not only my favorite cowboy but also
brother-in-law. So with heavy heart I say, "Farewell, cowb
may there be prancing broncs and green pastures whe

ALLEN WILLIAM HAAG
Allen William Haag was born March 18, 1922 at Cu
Creek in his grandparent Haag's home. Allen, like m
children growing up on a ranch, learned to do all phases
ranch and farm work, and has continued to use his kno
edge of this work in his adult life. He attended school
Shepard Creek School and also in Kendalia. Allen served
the army during World War II from 1943 to 1947. Upon be
discharged from the army, he returned home and went i
partnership with his father Bill on the ranch. Allen follow
his father's tradition of serving and giving of his time on ma
community and county committees.n'7

Allen married Vera Peel on June 16, 1956 in St. Helen
Episcopal Church in Boerne. In November Allen and V
moved into their newly-built home on Curry Creek which t
live in today. June 25, 1958 their daughter Karen Dee w
born. She attended school in Boerne and was active
Kendall County Jr. Livestock shows and horse shows
nine years showing in Boerne, San Antonio, Dallas,
Worth, San Angelo, and Houston. She graduated from Te
A&M University in 1980 where she obtained a B.S. degre
Range Science.
Karen married Ronald Schneider of San Antonio on Ju
7, 1980. They make their home on the Allen Haag Ran
Karen and her father went into partnership on the ranch
1980. Karen and Ronnie also own Schneider Steel, Inc.
San Antonio. In 1981 Karen was named as a director of t
Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association. She was t
second woman to be named to this board. On June 2, 19
a son, Reid William Schneider, was born to Karen a
Ronnie.
We have come 137 years (1846-1983) from the time Jac
Friedrich Haag landed in the new world and began his n
life. We know that through his descendants his dreams ha
been realized, his visions seen, and his prayers answer

EUGENE R. HAAS FAMILY
Eugene R. and Maxine Miller Haas met when Eugene ca
to Boerne from New Braunfels in 1949 to become a part
in McQuinn Building Materials. They were married in 19
and two sons were born, Richard Miller Haas and Mich

at Chamber of Commerce, of which he was President in 1953.
d in During his year in office, the Directors of the Sheep and Goat

ed banquet. Gene went out to the Kirschke airport to meet
ny LeTourneau's private jet.
Maxine was a member of the Junior Reading Club, the
Bluebird Auxiliary of Methodist Hospital, and both were
active in the Methodist Church where Gene was treasurer for
25 years. In 1955, when Boerne was raising funds for a
hospital, Maxine was in charge of receiving packages to be
auctioned unopened. One little lady had her out-of-state
friends send the packages to her so she could open them to
see what was sent.
Richard and Mike were both active in Scouts and both
became Eagle Scouts. They participated in sports in the
Boerne schools, and won several awards. Both graduated
from Boerne High School, and Richard was Valedictorian of
his class. Both boys graduated from Texas A&M University,
and Richard got his Masters degree from the University of
Colorado.
Richard is an architect with Lloyd Lippe in Seguin, Texas.
He is married to Susan Polansky Schnack of CaIdwell,
Texas. They have two children, Jason Allen, and Candace

Ft. My maternal grandfather, Henry Wendler, Sr., owned
as Wendler's Grocery and Mercantile Store, Wendler's Saloon
e in and Domino hall in Boerne, Texas. Next to the store, facing
south, was the lovely old home. The backyard behind the
ne store and home was very large and the property extended to
ch. the creek. My uncle, a cotton broker, kept the bales of cotton
