1973 Mustang Mach 1 Questions (New Owner)

Hello all!!!

It all happened so suddenly, but I'm now the owner of a Q code 1973 Mach 1!!!

As a new owner, I have a bunch of questions... It would be awesome if you guys could help me out!

First, I should probably mention that I haven't even seen it in person yet because I actually live in Japan right now (well, for 11 years) and it was my best friend who found it for me! It was examined by my friend's mechanic buddy and my gear head brother... The consensus is that it's pretty awesome! The only bad thing is that I won't get to see it until I come home in March 2014! Looks awesome in pictures though! I'm pretty sure the paint code is 4N, medium aqua.

So... I have a little time, but I have a few questions...

First, I'm really interested in getting new Magnum 500 wheels, but I'm not sure about the sizes. CJ Pony Parts has an interesting set of 15x7 fronts and 15x8 rears. Do those sound like a good match? How about tire sizes? They have 225/60 or 235/60 fronts with 245/60 rears. What do you guys reccomend?

Next, upholstery... Apparently, it's in pretty good shape, but I know there is a hole in the back seat. I was thinking about replacing it all, but it sounds like its a super tough job! The TMI stuff looks nice, but can anybody reccomend a shop in Michigan or Northern Ohio that could do the install?

Well... I'm sure that I'll have more questions soon, but that's all for now.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Help?

Well, I could really use some help with wheel and tire choices...

As I mentioned, I'm really interested in getting new Magnum 500 wheels, but I'm not sure about the sizes, especially the tires. There is a certain look that I'm going for, but that's only after looking at pictures of Mach 1s on the Internet. I just can't find wheel and tire info on the ones I like... Nobody seems to post that info.

Can any 1971-1973 Mach 1 owners post pictures and tell me about their wheel and tire sizes?

It would really, really help me out!

sorry I can't help with the tire and wheels maybe give them a call and or call American muscle and ask them. I like the rims on the car right now. The rear seat fix should be an easy one. let me talk to a buddy of mine and see if he knows of a shop. He is from Holland MI.

Thanks everybody!
I actually like the wheels that are on it now too, but I just love the look of Magnum 500 wheels. I guess it's just a personal preference.

Glenn, thanks! It would be awesome if you could ask your friend out in Holland!
PM me if you find anything out! I'd totally appreciate it!

sharp car- I kinda like the existing wheels too, but think the 15" magnums (or torq-thrust-D, a personal fave) would look even better with enough taller rubber to better fill the wheelwell- plus to me those existing rears look like they might get into the quarter pretty bad if ever bottomed out, and the fronts coulda used a tad less offset/more lip...

I always loved the NACA scooped hood/wraparound front bumper look on that model, and black on blue was a beautiful combo congrats!

I bought a set from these guys and they are the best I have ever seen. If you want magnums try these.

Actually, I don't see Magnum 500 wheels on their homepage... I'm pretty sure that the ones that CJ Pony Parts has are the same company though...

Sorry for not responding in a timely manner, but FYI I have never seen 1973s with Rally 500 wheels. From your pics I see the car is not stock. The 73 upgrade came with aluminum slots and 14" wheels. Any mustang catalog will likely offer a "source book" and you can see the options that were available for our year. Let me try to figure out how to post a picture of my Mach 1, coming up on 30 years ownership this 11/30/2014
