Pau Torres open to playing in England; AC Milan trying to find money for Tomori — reports

Pau Torres isn’t talked about too often in the Chelsea rumor mill, but the Spain international’s perfect blend of athleticism and technique makes for quite an interesting potential target.

And that potential could certainly be there. According to Manchester Evening News, the 24-year-old is open to the idea of playing in England, with both Manchester clubs having taken a keen interest. Real Madrid and Bayern Munich may also be in the mix for Torres, who has been really impressive over the past year or so. His current contract runs through 2024, and there is a release clause of €60m reportedly built in, but Villarreal might be willing to consider a player-plus-cash offer due to the current financial climate — though obviously any deal would only take place after the conclusion of the season.

And speaking of centre backs, one who’s already — and still — a Chelsea player is Fikayo Tomori, whose permanent transfer to AC Milan is getting more and more certain by the day, with the only potential hang-up being the transfer fee.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), the Rossoneri already have €15m in the coffers — they had set that aside for signing Mohamed Simakan or another centre back in the January transfer window — and need another €13m to trigger the buy-option. That money will most likely come from Champions League qualification, and with Milan being in a strong position in 2nd, four points ahead of 3rd place Juventus, Tomori’s departure from Chelsea is looking like a matter of when rather than if.
