LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two men are hospitalized with “critical” injuries after a crash involving a suspected DUI driver who was speeding, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

The crash was reported around 8:54 p.m. in the southwest valley at the intersection of Durango Drive and Sunset Road.

According to a Metro news release, 30-year-old Nicholas Storella was traveling south on Durango at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the back of Toyota 4-Runner driven by a 65-year-old man who was stopped for the red light at the intersection of Sunset. Storella and the other driver suffered life-threatening injuries.

The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to collide with a third vehicle stopped at the intersection. The driver of that vehicle, a 41-year-old woman was not injured.

Both injured men were transported to University Medical Center. Police said Storella showed signs of impairment and was booked for DUI-related charges.

The crash caused the intersection to be closed overnight while police investigated the scene.
