It was like a marriage made in heaven, the coming together of two great minds to create an all-new car. Henry J Kaiser and Joseph Washington Frazer, strong-willed men of vision, boldly decided to take on America’s Big Three automakers. Hoping to position their Kaiser-Frazer Corporation in the big leagues of auto manufacturers they would launch a radical new car to capture the public’s imagination and produce it in unheard-of quantities. The cars were an immediate hit. Thousands lined up to see and buy the new Kaiser and Frazer cars. In time K-F introduced hardtops, sedans, convertibles, an impressive fiberglass sports car and a line of low-priced compact cars. But competition eventually proved overwhelming and Kaiser-Frazer production ended in the US, though Kaiser cars continued to be built in South America into the 1960s. This new book by veteran auto writer Patrick Foster—America’s spokesman for independent brand cars—tells the full story of Kaiser-Frazer’s struggle to succeed in an industry that killed so many competitors. Heartbreaking yet uplifting, it is an allegory of men and automobiles during perhaps the most exciting era the industry has ever known.

My dad is a huge Kaiser Frazier fan. Thank you!

Most people today do not even know there was a Kaiser automobile. They had a lot going for them but like the other independent automakers they did not have the financial reserves to stay in the game. An interesting look at an interesting car.

Good photos of each year and model; good info. All photos are black and white only.

We bought this book as a gift for my wife's grandfather who once owned a Kaiser in the late 40's. In fact, I think it was his first car. He loved the book and it brought back memories.

The book starts with a short two page history of Kaiser Frazer Corp and the rest of the book is a picture history. All the picures are in black and white with comments under each one.
Makes a nice book to get a quick over view of the Kaiser Frazer Corp.

Excellent book that had many pictures that corresponded to the story

Nice photos, with even a few inside the factory. Only ding against it for me is I wish there were more photos of certain models, like the 1951 Kaiser Deluxe Club Coupe. Good book for a K-F fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pictorial Review of Kaise-Frazer Cars
Reviewed in Canada on August 2, 2010
The Photo Archive series published by Iconografix is an important source of black and white photographs of many categories of vehicles including cars, trucks, buses, RVs and racing cars. This volume covers Kaiser and Frazer from 1947 through 1955, but not Henry J. There is usually one single large photo per page (occasionally two smaller ones) so for 126 pages you get at least that many photos, all from the manufacturer's archives, so all of excellent quality. For anyone who likes Kaiser and Frazer cars, this book is a must have but for those, like myself, who just love cars, this book is an excellent source of pictures and a great look into what many think were kinder, gentler times. I haven't found a Photo Archive book that I haven't liked and this is no exception.
