North Carolina forward Walker Kessler entered the transfer portal Monday, and when news broke of the move, there was some speculation Kentucky could be a contender for the 7’1” big man.

But a new report suggests that Kessler may be looking to head to the west coast to play for a national title contender. Tipton Edits reports Gonzaga is the early leader.

The Bulldogs, of course, have been the best team in college basketball this season, and are the current favorites to take home the national title.

They’re also the favorites to land one of the best big men in the country in Chet Holmgren, although Holmgren, who is about the same height as Kessler, is projected to play as a wing at the next level.

Kessler was ranked as a top-25 prospect in his class, and was actually considered a Duke lean before committing to the Tar Heels where he struggled early on but found some momentum later in the season.

Gonzaga wasn’t really involved in his recruitment out of high school a lot, so this could be an interesting move. However, the Bulldogs have found success at the collegiate level with guys of Kessler’s size and play style, so Spokane could be a fit for him.
