After 2 excruciating weeks at the dealer and PPF Installer I finally took her home on Friday and she was more than worth the wait. First off, I must give a huge shoutout to Richard and Audi Stratham in NH. Two months searching for an MSRP order led me to them after a helpful tip from a fellow Audiziner and they were transparent, attentive and professional throughout. I started out 3rd on the waitlist and 10 months later had my car. When the model year cycled over to 2022 they even honored the 2021 MSRP which was a real standup thing to do and gave me good value on the RS5 trade-in. They've earned my loyalty and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, fair experience.
On to the car, itself. I was coming from a 2019 RS5 SB, and this was my first V8 and the first car i plan on keeping a long time. As the do-everything daily driver, fun car and family hauler, the expectations were big and it did not disappoint. I loved my RS5 but from the first time i got into the Avant, it felt like a truly special event. Even the little things set it apart. The netry/exit light show sequences, the open pore (rather than glossy) carbon fiber, the fully aluminum shifters, the flat-bottom steering wheel, the extended leather surfaces. Just sitting in this thing feels like an event. The cockpit flows so much better with the screens fully integrated into the dash rather than the stuck-on-Ipad appearance. The way it tucks into corners with barely any understeer and the magic of the rear-wheel steering makes it feel like half its size, but it still cushions the ravaged roads while riding on those massive 22s....just perfection. Those are just my initial impressions on first drive after full xpel stealth/ceramic/tint install, with more to come as I get to know its....quirks and features.
Thanks to this fine forum for all the advice, conversation and updates (esp Roger and Rmode) to help pass the time. will post some pics once i figure out how.
