2016 Ford Transit Models Get Light Updates
The 2016 Ford Transit models have gained some minor changes for the new model year.
For the 2016 model year, Ford has added its latest infotainment system to the Transit – SYNC 3. Ford says the system has faster performance, more conversational voice recognition, a more innovative smartphone-like touchscreen and easier-to-understand graphical interface. In addition, all 2016 Ford Transit models will include a rearview camera and trailer hitch assist technology as standard.

For the first time on the Ford Transit medium- and high-roof vans will be dual-sliding side cargo doors, adding more flexibility to models that now have 58 vehicle configurations, up from 47 in the 2015 model year.
Other minor changes include the ability to limit top speed at 70 mph, adding to the already available 65- and 75-mph choices; four new paint colors (Shadow Black, Caribou, Magnetic and Race Red); optional auxiliary fuse panels; single absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery and optional heavy-duty alternators for wagon models.
On the 2016 Ford Transit Connect equipped with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, buyers can now opt for a flex-fuel option that allows the van to run on E85, unleaded gasoline or any blend of the two.
The 2016 Ford Transit and its variants will begin arriving dealerships in the U.S. this September.
