Car shows: Chevys only, high-school booster club, concours

This cherry 1946 Chevy pickup, which is owned by Ed and Star Vavra of Scottsdale, has made the scene at past Sweetheart Car Shows at Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe.

The Super Bowl has come and gone. Relax and enjoy these car shows in Glendale, Fountain Hills, Phoenix and Tempe.

LowLife Line-up

LowLife Car Club's show is bound to be fun; it's held at Four Peaks Tasting Room, and trophies will be given in such categories as stripper's choice, brewmaster's pick and "hope you make it home." All makes and models are welcome. A 60/40 raffle, food trucks, crackle (think engine noise), a lowrider-hopper exhibition and vendors will be featured.

Motoring Thru Time

Doyle Bigelow of Glendale owns this sweet 1915 Ford Model T Depot Hack, which he has shown at previous  Motoring Thru Time shows.

More than 80 historical cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers and bicycles will be on display at Heritage Square, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Take plenty of cans of food to vote for the people's choice award; each donated can of food for St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance will equal one vote. There will be music, cake and ice cream, and you can see the "Phoenix Re:Imagined" exhibit in the historic Stevens House. A vendor will sell breakfast items, and nearby restaurants will be open.

Sweetheart Car Show

It's all about Corvettes and Chevrolets at Desert Corvette Association's 22nd annual show at Chapman Chevrolet. Awards for best of show, best engine, best paint and best interior will be handed out in numerous classes, including Corvettes, trucks, Chevelles, Novas, Corvairs and customs. A judged concours will be held for select Corvettes. Event proceeds will benefit the 100 Club of Arizona and Mana House.

Cobra Kai Cactus Varsity Spiritline Car Show

The Cobra Spiritline Boosters will hold a car show at Cactus High School to raise funds for its cheer squad. Stroll the parking lot to see classics, customs, trucks and motorcycles or register your own; your entry fee will include lunch. Prizes will be awarded in such categories as principal's pick, cheerleader's choice and fan favorite. There also will be vendors, food, music and raffles.

Concours in the Hills

Nearly 300 imported and domestic performance, luxury and classic vehicles are expected at this show at Fountain Park in Fountain Hills. Awards will be handed out for best domestic, best import, best of show and people's choice awards. All proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. If it rains, the event will move to Saturday, Feb. 14. Entrants can gather at the Shops at Gainey Village in Scottsdale at 8 a.m. to form a convoy for the drive to Fountain Hills.

Westgate Hot Rod Nights

Classic cars and hot rods from the '80s and older will be parked at Westgate's Water Dance Plaza on Wednesdays. Cars from the '90s and newer will be along Westgate Boulevard. Participating Westgate restaurants and bars will offer happy-hour deals, and there will be live music.
