Hansi Flick and Thomas Müller dumbfounded over Bayern Munich’s missed opportunities against PSG

If there was one prevailing theme for Bayern Munich in its 3-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, it was missed opportunities.

The Bavarians were strong and assertive, but could only convert two of 31 total attempts. That is a mind-blowing figure for anyone to comprehend, especially the squad’s manager Hansi Flick.

“The opponent scored three goals from few chances and we had many chances,” said Flick (as captured by Tz). “We could have made it a good result, but the efficiency was not good. However, I am satisfied with the performance and the way.”

Thomas Müller, though, acknowledged that Bayern Munich created its own problem with its lack of precision in the final third.

“We need to score a lot more goals,” said Müller. “You can talk about the goals we conceded, of course, but when it ends 5:3 or 6:3, no one can really complain. We laid the egg in our own nest and now have to chase the deficit, that’s clear.”

Müller, of course, temporarily tied the game in the 60th minute with a tremendous effort, but the 31-year-old probably is still thinking about the chances he had early in the game that could have put the match away.

Regardless, Bayern Munich is going to have to fight an uphill battle next week in Paris.
