The closure of Yellow Corp. freight operations led to 1,185 job cuts across the state, including 304 in Western New York, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Department of Labor this week.

The Nashville-based company halted operations abruptly July 30, after failed labor negotiations with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which resulted in the loss of 33,000 jobs nationwide, two thirds of them union positions.

The WARN notice listed 34 employees at 6640 Transit Road and 46 at 6650 Transit Road, the company's two terminals in Williamsville. Another 224 employees were let go at the distribution center at 66 Milens Road in Tonawanda.

The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Aug. 6 and announced it would close and sell the company's assets, sister publication Kansas City Business Journal reported. The company — which spent most of its history based in the Kansas City area — was delisted from the Nasdaq stock exchange as of Aug. 16.
