    A Look At Trims

With a starting MSRP of $53,800, the Tahoe comes in several different trims to satisfy every buyer. Whether it’s utility you’re seeking or a fully-loaded luxury cabin, the Tahoe’s lineup of trims has an answer. For example, the $69,600 Tahoe High Country is the top-of-the-line Tahoe. It comes standard with a 6.2 liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, unique exterior grille styling, interior stitching, 22-inch wheels, and magnetic ride control suspension with an available first-in-its-class four-corner air ride adaptive suspension. This offers ride-height adjustments of up to 4-inches total, along with an automatic self-leveling feature. That is an abundance of features.

Along with the top-end High Country, the Tahoe is also available in the base LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims. For the 2021 model year, all of these Tahoe trims are gaining 7-inches of overall length for a total of 210.7-inches, including nearly 5-inches of additional wheelbase length, bringing that total to 120.9-inches. Additionally, cargo volume maxes out at an impressive 122.9 cu.ft., and with all three rows of seats in place, it’s still a respectable 25.5 cu.ft., which is a substantial increase over the previous Tahoe model. Chevrolet put the focus on driver and passenger comfort without sacrificing cargo capacity, a win-win for Tahoe buyers. And with all of the trims getting this upgraded space, but each holding their own unique features, Tahoe drivers can all expect to find the perfect vehicle for them.

  • Performance

    Driving the Tahoe

The Chevy Tahoe is offered with three different engines: the 5.3-liter V8, delivering 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque; the 6.2-liter V8, standard on the High Country, which puts out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque; and a 3.0-liter diesel, available on all trims except the Z71, producing 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter is the only diesel engine available in the full-size SUV category, a fact many consumers will find to be the deciding factor in their ultimate decision. But, that said, any of the Tahoe's engines are fantastic options.

The previous Chevrolet Tahoe contained a solid rear axle suspension, a dated design that definitely gave the vehicle additional durability, but unfortunately contributed to a bumpier ride and less traction because all four wheels could not move independently. The new 2021 Tahoe addresses this with the addition of an independent rear suspension. This allows each wheel to adapt independently to road conditions, giving the vehicle a more agile and stable ride, and providing more comfort to driver and passengers. Better traction is achieved because the tires work independently and grip the road differently, depending on terrain.

    Towing with the Tahoe

Towing capacity is another great benefit on the 2021 Chevy Tahoe, with a range of 8,100 lbs on the Tahoe equipped with the 6.2 liter-V8 and four-wheel drive, to 8,400 lbs on the 5.3-liter V8-equipped Tahoe two-wheel drive and Chevy’s Max Trailering Package. The Tahoe’s ability to effortlessly haul boats and RVs will give buyers another practical reason to consider it. Add to that the most advanced trailer assist technology, available via the Max Trailering Package, and the Tahoe leads the pack in trailering ability.

The Max Trailering Package includes several unique features, including an app to monitor trailering. The integrated trailer brake controller syncs trailer braking with the vehicle’s braking system, so they operate simultaneously. With the hitch guidance and hitch view features, drivers get a special guideline in the rearview camera with the touch of a button, helping to line up the hitch with the trailer. When the vehicle is close to the hitch, another button activates the hitch view, which zooms in on the trailer for accurate mating every time. Overall, whether towing or doing some daily driving, the Tahoe has the power and features to do so.

  • Interior

    Inside the Tahoe

The 2021 Tahoe has been completely refreshed on the inside, including several significant infotainment upgrades. Starting with the dash, Chevy includes a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless charging pad that’s standard on all trims except the base LS. On-the-road connectivity is possible due to the available 4G LTE WiFi, a feature that some drivers consider a must in today’s hyper-connected world. The optional dual 12.6-inch screen entertainment system in the rear keeps the kids busy on long road trips and offers the ability to run different content on each screen. Passengers can connect to the screens via USB, giving them plenty of options, from working on the road to screening smartphone content.

Chevy also offers a bonus available power sliding center console, the first of its kind, which can slide forward and back up to 10-inches, making cup holders available to rear-seat passengers or creating a comfortable armrest. The ability to adjust it to several different settings is a surprisingly helpful tweak that customizes driver and passenger comfort and utility. In fact, the Tahoe is equipped with so many luxury and convenience features that drivers will have a difficult time finding anything missing.

There’s more to the Tahoe’s interior story, however, with an available panoramic sunroof that gives the interior a convertible-like vibe. There are also available 10- or 12-way power seats, depending on trim, and enough charging ports to keep everyone’s devices charged. The 15-inch head-up display available on the High Country is a welcome convenience addition for the driver along with a powerful Bose audio system and up to 9 exterior camera views that come in very handy on a vehicle of the Tahoe’s size. Overall the 2021 Tahoe is luxurious, spacious, and full of styling details that create a comfortable ride for both driver and passenger. Even the third-row seats are more spacious, fitting adults comfortably.

  • Safety

    The Tahoe Keeps You Safe

Depending on the trim, several advanced driver-assist safety features are available on the 2021 Tahoe. Drivers will gain confidence knowing the Tahoe is equipped with these safety improvements and will appreciate how they are automatically activated when needed. Upgraded safety features include automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, front and rear parking assist, HD rear vision camera, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and lane-keep assist with lane departure warning.

All-in-all, Chevrolet makes about 30 safety features available on the Tahoe. Even the standard airbag technology has evolved, with a driver inboard seat-mounted side-airbag and a passenger sensing system. The suite of safety technologies leaves almost no part of the Tahoe unmonitored, giving drivers and passengers peace-of-mind in all different driving conditions.

Additionally, Chevrolet’s subscription-based OnStar connectivity system is available on all models. This connects drivers to an Emergency-Certified Advisor 24/7 and monitors the vehicle for accidents, providing an Automatic Crash Response, which uses sensors on the vehicle to detect when an accident happens and calls for help in the event a driver is incapacitated or otherwise unable to do so on their own. With all of these features, it is clear that the Chevy Tahoe is an extremely safe SUV.
