The Blue Cab Story
PAST
Founded in Oak Park in 1923, Blue Cab is one of the oldest cab companies in the Chicago metro area. We have been dedicated to innovation in the transportation service industry since we opened our doors over 100 years ago. Leading the way in transportation service, we have consistently adopted state-of-the art technology. Before the use of two-way radios in the private sector, Blue Cab installed telephone stations for our drivers to use, making it easier for the people of the metro area to get their cabs much more quickly.
In the 1950s, Blue Cab was one of the first to add two-way radios in all our vehicles. This upgrade enabled dispatchers to reach our drivers more efficiently and thus increase the speed of customer pickups across the Chicago metropolitan area. In 1963, again helping to usher in a new era of transportation service, we added a second two-way radio, allowing dispatch to know when the driver’s meter was on. This allowed the dispatch office to find and schedule the next available ride more accurately, once again decreasing dispatch wait times.

PRESENT
Today, Blue Cab uses the most advanced dispatching system on the market. Utilizing GPS, automated call ordering, and mobile data terminals results in fast response times for our customers. The addition of our new app makes booking and managing taxi rides even more convenient and hassle-free.
Every day, we do our utmost to provide clean, reliable, economical transportation solutions for a variety of needs across Chicagoland.
FUTURE
At Blue Cab, we are always looking toward the future, embracing change and adapting to new ideas and new technology, and providing good, old-fashioned customer service to make our customers’ travel experience the best it can be. We continue to build on the trust we have earned over the past 100+ years of serving the many communities of the Chicago area. And while we love technology, we do not plan to change our customer service commitment to always have a real person to talk to if that is preferred.
Our continued vision for growth into serving a larger geographical area surrounding the greater Chicagoland region is already underway. We look forward to and are enthusiastic about Blue Cab’s enhanced role in the communities into which we have expanded our service. Our fleet of vehicles continues to expand, as do the opportunities for personal development for our employees and owner/operators. We are excited for the future as we move ever forward in our quest to be the preferred transportation provider in the metro area.
