1967 bmw 1600 turf

I found a 1966 1600-2 in Turf Green with the same interior with all Light Grey front and rear seats sitting fully intact at a self service salvage yard in Santa Paula, Ventura County 25 years ago. I sat in it admiring and studying the 66 specific details of the car. It was sad to see that car go to the crusher, eventually. But, before it did, we removed many parts, including the bumpers, seats, instrument cluster,  trim etc. During those days the yards offered the cars, complete with a salvage title for $500. When there were no takers, they just set them out for the pickers.

The belt line trim on the 66-67 cars is completely different from all later years. The plastic attachment hardware is round vs. square. It is of a larger diameter. And, the lip on the belt line trim is, therefore, smaller. This belt line trim only fits these early round attachment hardware.  All of it has been NLA for a very long time. That's just one detail. There is a very long list of differences.

This may be a very early 67 as it doesn't have the rocker trim. The rear badge and its location is from a 68 or later car. It doesn't appear to be a 66, though. The Vin # will tell us a lot.
