With powertrain at the top of consumers’ minds as gas prices continue to rise as well as the uncertainty of electric vehicles and the anxiety associated with charging stations, hybrid models seem to be at the top of sales charts. For Bentley, Volkswagen’s top brand, the need for a hybrid was a priority. Utilizing a similar powertrain in the Bentayga SUV as their pilot was just enough for them to bolt one in their flagship sedan.

In Grasso’s Garage this week, it’s the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid. Wrapped in Verdant, Bentley’s formal green, or as I like to call it “British Racing Green,” it was impressive. As a show-stopper, and with $50,000 in options on top of the $200,000 base price tag, this quarter-of-a-million-dollar luxury sedan is really nice. In our last test of the Flying Spur, we noticed a similar experience, with a Bang and Ulufsen’s sound system, a rotating infotainment system and a mood lighting option that was really soothing.

Riding on 21-inch 10-twin-spoke dark grey and bright machined wheels, this couch on wheels is a dream to be driven in. Coming in at over 5,500 pounds, the Flying Spur Hybrid boasts a six-cylinder engine producing 536 horsepower and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. Although only 24 miles of electric charge was available on the Flying Spur, it was sure nice to not hear any powertrain while using the all-EV mode. We flipped it to Hybrid mode most of the time on our test to really enjoy the utilization between EV and gas, it was a fun ride to say the least.

In Grasso’s Garage, you know it’s all about comfort, style, price and exclusivity. Well, Bentley really checked a lot of those boxes. The style and exclusivity is second to none. The color is exquisite, the chrome accents are unfathomable and the overall design is just flawless. On the inside, it’s all comfort and spaciousness. To be able to ride in this kind of style is really a dream for most. Our love for Bentley runs deep; its unique vehicles and futuristic ambience is really something special.
