This Is The Only 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi R/T Painted In Light Blue

A unique 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi is heading to auction later this month and could sell for more than triple the price of a new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.

As a 1970 model, this Charger is a second-generation car and is rare as it is thought to be one of just 124 Hemi R/T vehicles that were produced for the 1970 model year. Making it even more special is the fact that it is the only known example finished in B3 light Blue Metallic, a color that actually suits the muscle car perfectly.

The Mecum Auctions listing for the car reveals that it has previously undergone a rotisserie restoration and is in excellent condition. The exterior shows no obvious signs of damage and it is still fitted with the original 15-inch wheels combining elements finished in blue and chrome. It also continues to sit on classic Goodyear F60-15 Polyglas GT tires while the chrome across the front and rear bumpers also looks to be in pristine condition.

The interior has also been well cared for over the years and includes black leather across the front and second-row seats. There is also a thin three-spoke wood-trimmed steering wheel and additional wood trim around the gauge cluster and radio.

As mentioned, this is a Hemi R/T model and is therefore outfitted with a 426 cubic-inch (7.0-liter) V8 that pumped out 425 hp back in the day, an impressive figure for today, let alone 52 years ago. This engine is mated to a TorqueFlite automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.

Mecum expects the classic muscle car to sell for between $175,000 and $225,000.
