How it works
Super Cruise is a driver assistance feature that allows for hands-free driving on compatible roads.
While Super Cruise doesn’t “drive” the vehicle, it does allow the driver to operate the vehicle hands-free on compatible roads and in proper conditions. Driver attention and engagement is required at all times.
Super Cruise only works on roads that are separated from opposing traffic. There are currently over 130,000 miles of Super Cruise-enabled roads in North America.
The use of Super Cruise is only recommended during optimal weather and driving conditions. If Teen Driver is active, Super Cruise is disabled. Do not use Super Cruise in tunnels, a construction zone, with limited visibility, or when lane markings are poor.
Super Cruise works using a combination of Adaptive Cruise Control, GPS, LiDar cameras, and a high-precision map as well as the Lane Sensing Camera. A Driver Attention System is also enabled while using Super Cruise to enhance safety and ensure driver attention and engagement.
All you have to do is put your hands on the steering wheel, press the Super Cruise button, put your foot on the brake or pull the Regen on Demand paddle. Grabbing the steering wheel while engaging the brake pedal will deactivate Super Cruise and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Super Cruise is not a crash avoidance system, it will not avoid or steer away from road hazards or potential crashes. You must be alert and engaged at all times while using Super Cruise and must be ready to put your hands on the wheel and resume control of the vehicle at a moment’s notice.
Simply put your hands on the steering wheel and begin to steer, the light bar will pulse blue. You can return to hands-free driving by centering your car in the lane and waiting for the steering wheel to turn green.
Super Cruise uses the speed set on Adaptive Cruise Control, if that hasn’t been set it will operate at the current speed you’re driving at when activated.
Super Cruise should only be serviced by certified technicians with appropriate tools, training, and knowledge. The best way to ensure your Super Cruise system will be serviced properly is to have it serviced at your local Chevrolet dealer.
While Super Cruise is designed to travel in the center of the lane and has strict tolerances of (+/- 4 inches), everyone’s individual perception of the center may vary.
