1992 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

1992 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

The first blue Corvette showed up in 1954 wearing Pennant Blue lacquer paint.  Only 300 were built that year in this new hue.  Other first generation blues included Arctic Blue in 1956 and Jewel Blue in 1961.  The C2's gave us stunning Daytona Blue in 1963 and 1964.  Later in 1966 we had the terrific trio of Nassau, Laguna, and Trophy Blue.  That trifecta was followed up in 1967 with Elkhart, Lynndale, and Marina Blue.  Corvette's 3rd generation ran from 1968 to 1982 and gave us many more shades of blue.  Some of our favorites include 1969's Lemans Blue, 1972's Targa Blue, and 1977's Corvette Dark Blue.  Later C3's were available with two-tone paint which, of course, included a couple shades of blue.  1981 featured Silver and Dark Blue while 1982 offered the Silver Blue / Dark Blue combo.  The all-new 1984 Corvette debuted with Light Blue Metallic and Medium Blue Metallic.  You could also order these 2 colors together in a two-tone configuration.  Later C4 Blues included another incarnation of Nassau Blue in 1988, Quasar Blue in 1990, and Admiral Blue in 1994.

For consignment from 1992 in Quasar Blue which is 1 of a mere 1,043 Produced this year in this color a Corvette convertible shining like an icy cool penny.  Since 2015 it has been driven about 4000 miles a year and garaged the remainder of the time.  The AC blows cold, headlights go up and down and the antenna works, also some features  that rarely work!  This fiberglass piece of road sculpture sucks you inside.  As you take it all in it starts up and you are mesmerized by the roar of the V8 which is an LT1 300hp engine.  Nice comfy light white Michelin Man leather interior nearly puts you to sleep, when suddenly you are awakened by a snap of your neck, and your right foot is to the floor, and you are speeding forward, convertible wind in your hair style.

Exterior
Ok wake up and gaze at this beautiful Quasar Blue machine with neoprene bumpers, hidden headlights, front quarter shark gills, inset door handles, a nice flat rear deck and 4 deep inset rounded squares tail lights.  Sculpted lines abound for the fender tops and front of the car which has nary a speck of chrome.  A white convertible top with a glass rear window can move up and down easily so you can enjoy the wind in your hair, or drive in colder weather.  Polished sawtooth wheels in 17-inch form are wrapped in front 245/40ZR17 rubber and rear 275/40ZR17's all from the 32nd week of 2020.  Noice!  Blue eyes, my baby's got blue eyes…

Interior
In stark contrast to this Quasar Blue exterior we swing the doors and reveal white leather upper panels all clean and nice.  A black molded armrest and black insert actuator are also seen in sleek form.  Inside high back Michelin man-esque buckets in white leather are ready to seat you sir.  These have heavily padded rolled tuck and roll inserts and winged padded bolsters in their sides to grab you and keep your attention.  Also, the seat adjustments are within the armrests.  A wide black center console races through these white chairs and houses a glovebox, more seat back adjustments and the shifter.  As it rises to the dash center, and this panel turns left and forms the dash top and instrument cluster visor.  On its way we see a plethora of push buttons for the radio, climate controls and a panel with information with individual warning alerts.  The C-curved dash visor has a cascade of gauges to drivers right, a central orange LCD speedo display and a left hand quarter circle tachometer.  Vents and other controls are here in the dash front too and the leather covered factory wheel is fronting this techno dash and it has an airbag for the driver.  All clean and nice black carpeting and behind the seats are dal openings that can fit some extra longer items into the trunk space behind.  The white canvas convertible top has some slight smudging but moves up and down flawlessly  and has no tears or rips.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a nicely aged slightly patina 5.7L LT1 V8 that puts out 300 horsies.  It is fed by tuned port EFI and a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission on back.  A 2.59 limited slip rear axle is noted.  Stock dual exhaust is on this engine.

Undercarriage
Some cast aluminum independent transverse leaf spring C4 suspension with undercoated floor pans and tubs are noted at first glace when peering up at the underside.  An X brace supports the stresses on the unibody and power disc brakes are on all 4 corners.  Some road dirt and sight corrosion for the steel and aluminum parts to this undercarriage.

Drive-Ability
The car started right up and on the test track, it handled like it was on rails.  It exhibited neck snapping acceleration and great bias free stopping with surefooted handling on every surface of the track..  All controls were working at the time of the test drive and we had a great experience for this test drive.  Ill tell you something else for free..its a head turner in the rare blue and contrasting white.

Sing the blues for this year 'Vette.  Stay for the comfort and performance and sexy good looks.  All in a nicely preserved cared for driver example.  Put the top down and live large!
