2020 Ford Explorer: Redesigned with Safety in Mind

Ford Explorer—Safety First

Come to the Coccia Ford dealership in Wilkes-Barre and let us introduce you to America’s best-selling SUV. We’re especially excited to show you how the 2020 Ford Explorer puts safety first. It all starts with the Explorer’s redesigned, stronger construction and unibody design. Add the abundance of standard and available driver-assist features, and the 2020 Explorer becomes one of the safest, most secure vehicles on the road.

What’s New in Safety and Security

Every 2020 Ford Explorer for sale on our lot comes standard with new Side-Wind Stabilization. This amazing technology uses the Electronic Stability Control system to detect dangerous crosswinds and then automatically apply a braking pulse to individual wheels to counteract the gust, keeping you in your lane and out of harm’s way.

The 2020 Explorer ST, Limited, and Platinum models now come standard with 360-Degree Camera with Split-View and Washer technology. This system uses cameras on the front, side, and rear of your vehicle to provide a cross-traffic view in front and behind. It also gives a top-down view of objects outside of your vehicle—including in your blind spots.

Also now standard on the Explorer Platinum is the Adaptive Headlamps—a high-beam feature that increases visibility around curves and over hills, at night or in low-light conditions.

Life-Saving Driver Assist Features

All five trims of the 2020 Ford Explorer come standard with the Post-Collision Braking system. A life-saving feature, this can reduce the impact of a potential secondary collision by automatically applying moderate brake pressure after sensing the original crash.

Reverse Brake Assist, a standard feature on the ST and Platinum trims, uses radar and ultrasonic sensors to detect objects in your path and automatically apply brake pressure to avoid potential collisions.

Also standard on these two trims is Active Park Assist 2.0. This system helps you park your vehicle by taking over the steering so you can go hands-free while you focus on shifting, accelerating, and braking.

The Magic of Ford CoPilot360â„¢

The 2020 Explorer Base and XLT trims have standard Ford CoPilot360™, a suite of helpful technology and driver-assist features that make journeys easier and safer. This includes Auto High-Beam Headlamps and a Rear View Camera. You also get support from the BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Dynamic Brake Support, and Ford’s Lane-Keeping System ( Lane-Keeping Assist, Lane-Keeping Alert, and Driver Alert).

Ford amps up the support for the Explorer Limited, Explorer ST, and Platinum trims with standard CoPilot360â„¢ Assist+ (also available on the XLT). CoPilot360â„¢ Assist + has all the features of CoPilot360â„¢ with the added benefits of:

  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (Stop-and-Go, Lane Centering, and Speed Sign Recognition)
  • Evasive Steering Assist
  • Voice-Activated Touchscreen Navigation System (Pinch-to-Zoom, and SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link®)
  • Active Park Assist 2.0 (standard on the ST and Platinum)
  • Reverse Brake Assist (standard on the T and Platinum)
