The Dodge Brothers Company was founded in 1900 in Detroit by Horace and John Dodge. The company was formed to produce engine and chassis components for the city's many automobile firms. The Ford Motor Company and the Olds Motor Vehicle Company were two of their biggest customers.
By 1914, Dodge Brothers was marketing the new 4-cylinder Dodge Model 30, which was a slightly more sophisticated and upscale version of the Model T. It had an all-steel body, a 12-volt electrical system, a sliding-gear transmission (as opposed to the planetary design), and a 35-horespower engine.
By 1916, the Dodge Brothers were in second place for sales.
This vehicle is a DA Sport Roadster that is powered by an L-head, 208 cubic-inch, inline-6 cylinder engine offering 63 horsepower. It wears a roadster body by Budd and cost nearly $1,000 when new. It could be considered an entry-level intermediate car. It wears an older restoration that has been well maintained. It is painted in two-tone tan and brown. There are dual side mount spare tires, rumble seat, side mirrors, auxiliary lights, and golf club compartment. It is currently in non-running condition.By Daniel Vaughan | Dec 2014
