Although closely related to the Chevrolet Suburban, the GMC Suburban was not an identical twin. Bodies were shared and sheet metal was similar but the GMC had its own distinctive grille with bold 'GMC' identification. More differentiation could be found under the hood. While Chevy had a 235 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine, GMC featured a 130 horsepower, 270 cubic-inch six. Also of note is that the GMC's optional V8 was borrowed from Pontiac.
This 1959 GMC Suburban was purchased in Berkeley, California by its current owner in 1977. It was an original two-owner vehicle that had been built in Pontiac, Michigan.
Between 1995 and 2005, a full rotisserie restoration was completed. Only NOS (New Old Stock) or re-conditioned original parts were used in the restoration. Options on this Reef Green Suburban include the Deluxe Chrome Package, heavy-duty suspension, an anti-sway bar, and front wheel dampeners.
