The Aston Martin DBS was introduced in 1967 and served as the successor to the DB6. It was styled in-house by William 'Bill' Towns and given a wider and lower profile than its predecessor. This gave it a more aggressive appearance and offered more cabin space. The engine was positioned farther back in the chassis, behind the front axle, helping it gain nearly 50/50 weight distribution. In the front was a de Dion axle setup giving it excellent handling characteristics. Wishbones and coil-springs were at the front with a DeDion with Watts linkage in the back. Power was from the 4.0-liter six of the DB6. It was an all-aluminum unit with dual overhead camshafts and the ability to produce 282 horsepower at 5,500 RPM. The Vantage version was a high-performance option that came with triple Weber carburetors and made 325 horsepower at 5,570 RPM.
Inside, the DBS featured Connolly hides and luxurious amenities.
This particular example was from the first series of DBS production. It is a Vantage spec example that was built in 1969 as a right-hand drive model fitted with the optional five-speed ZF manual transmission. It has power steering and a Radiomobile radio, and its exterior color is Platinum (I.C.I. MO73-3659) with black Connolly leather interior.
The car was delivered new to Plough Motors and it is believed to have relocated to Canada in its early years. More recently, it has been given a comprehensive, nut-and-bolt restoration by Montreal, Canada-based professionals. The work was done to factory correct specifications, and the original matching-numbers Vantage engine as well as the ZF 5-speed gearbox was retained and is found in the car to this day. The exterior color is light blue-grey metallic colors, much like the original factory-applied Platinum color, while the interior has been re-trimmed in black leather.By Daniel Vaughan | Oct 2018
