1952 Kaiser Virginian Deluxe Travel Utility Sedan

This Kaiser is a 1952 Virginian Deluxe (Four-Door) Traveler. All Kaiser vehicles labeled 'Travelers' are hatchback cars - in fact, Kaiser-Frazer pioneered the hatchback format. The 1952 Virginian models are actually re-serialized 1951 cars. The paint scheme on this car is Onyx (black) over Pasadena Yellow. All Kaiser (1947 through 1955) and Frazer (1947 through 1951) cars were powered by a 226-cubic-inch flathead six-cylinder engine originally sourced from the Continental Motors of Michigan. The 1954 and 1955 Kaiser Manhattan models featured a supercharged tacked onto this motor. The current owner acquired this vehicle from a gentleman in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, who said it originated in Maine. The Kaiser has been advertised in the 'Old Car Trader' in the mid-1990s and was described as 'rust-free.' The car languished in the owner's car while he acquired multiple bits and pieces to accomplish its restoration. When finally sent to the late Tom Patterson of Newtonville for its rebuild, he found, after the removal of the paint, that rather than being rust-free, there was a whole lot of free rust, albeit well-disguised. The wood cargo slats in the rear compartment came from 'Kaiser Bill' in Utah. The upholstery vinyl came from a well-known source in California. The wide whitewall radial tires are 'Diamondbacks.' After completion, the car was featured in an article in the 'Globe and Mail,' as well as in Glen Woodcok's 'Time Machines' column and in 'The Reflector' A4C magazine.

The Kaiser-Frazer Owners Club International Handbook indicates there are four 1952 Virginia Deluxe (Four-Door) Travelers in the Club Registry, out of a total production run of an estimated 400 cars.
