    GMC Acadia First Drive

Redesigned 2024 GMC Acadia Features a Turbo Engine and Standard Safety Systems

The three-row SUV grows to accommodate families and their gear better

    Overview

The GMC Acadia is redesigned for 2024, growing in nearly every dimension to give it more competitive passenger and cargo room. Like the related Chevrolet Traverse, which was also updated for 2024, the Acadia, too, loses its V6 engine, gaining a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.

An impressive roster of active safety and driver assistance systems come standard, and GM’s Super Cruise advanced driving assistance system is available. In addition to regular versions, a more luxurious Denali trim and an off-road-ish AT4 version will both be offered.

The Acadia will be built alongside the Traverse at GM’s Lansing Delta Township facility in Michigan, and it will arrive at GMC dealerships in early 2024.

Some details, such as exact dimensions, price, and fuel economy, will be released closer to the start of production.

Here’s what we know so far.

It competes with the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Kia Telluride, Mazda CX-90, Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Grand Highlander, and the Volkswagen Atlas.

GM didn’t make a radical change in style with the 2024 Acadia, which is instantly recognizable as part of the GMC family.

Impressions The front end follows the recent freshenings of the GMC Canyon and Sierra pickup trucks, with a wide grille and slimmer daytime running lights on either side. The luxury-focused Denali version has more flashy trim below the grille, with integrated fog lights at the bottom corners.
