Default I found my Quasar Blue C4

I have most recently posted about all the work I've been doing to my 1991 red coupe. I went through several months of a very intense reconditioning and detailing process with that car. I'm now going through the same process with my latest purchase -- my 1993 Quasar Blue coupe (my absolute favorite color on the C4s). This '93 been very tastefully modified (390 RWHP) and has a very interesting story behind it considering it's been owned by 3 others CF members in the past, one of whom built this amazing car. Anyway, the car is INCREDIBLE to say the least, and -- being the detail freak that I am -- I'm loving it more and more as it goes through the detailing process.

I wanted to share a few photos from the past couple weeks of work. I spent a lot of time on the engine bay, suspension, wheels, and undercarriage. The wheels were cleaned, polished, and ceramic coated (I didn't know chrome could get shinier than it already is by nature -- but WOW!). It's now back on its wheels. I'll be stripping out the interior and going through an intense detail there next...then the paint correction and ceramic coat. I can't wait to have it done and all shined up next to my red one.

Very nice! Now if you slide them apart a bit more, you'll have room for a white one in the middle!

Great idea! My wife doesn’t always understand my fanaticism for cars, but maybe she’d let me have another knowing it’s all about patriotism.

Love the color, and that engine compartment detailed beautifully, and displays with pride.

Enjoy your new ride!

First, thanks EVERYONE for the compliments and encouragement! It's a lot of work but totally a labor of love. I think this is turning into my new hobby (like I need any more hobbies than the half-dozen I already have). I'll keep posting as I make more progress.

In terms of where I get most of my replacement parts, I get most of them from Eckler's and Zip Corvette.

That is a stunningly beautiful Corvette. Congrats on the acquisition and the great work making her shine.

Live well,

Those pics of your engine bay keep nagging at me and you're shaming me into it. While I'm not after the level of beauty you have achieved, I think there IS room for some improvement of mine. What do you do/use to get the air duct, underside of hood etc clean? I used to use Tuff Stuff, but lately I've been striking out on finding it. What's the best approach IYO?

While there is so much to be done on mine, I HAVE decided on exactly where to start. I think the spider web has got to go!

That’s a great place to start. I started by cleaning out leaves from the engine bay.

To clean the engine bay, including the underside of the hood, I start with a scrub down if all the parts using a toothbrush and “Tub O Towels” mechanic cleaning wipes - and a lot of elbow grease. Once I’ve got the initial cleansing done, I follow up with more wipes and then a wipe down with microfiber towels. To finish off all the black hoses and plastic, I use Meguiars Ultimate Plastic Restorer and the I buff that down with a clean microfiber towel again.

Thank you! Not long after posting, I spotted my wife's spray bottle of Simple Green. It is now empty! And I have something quite similar on the towels from the sound of it, Scott Rags In A Box, a cube about a foot on each side with 300 tear-off extra-heavy paper towels. And yes, the old tooth brush is the perfect tool. I have not gotten down to the fine wiping yet but it's looking way better already. It feeds on itself, the better some parts look, the more it makes you want to go after the rest of it. And I did find Tuff Stuff spray this afternoon so I can put that into the process.

Now - can you tell me where to find a refill on that "spare time" stuff? "Have a seat, son. This is gonna take some time:"
