The 2014 Chevy Sonic Goes Magenta

The Sonic’s fun, hatchback look and unique fascia has attracted an equally unique pack of drivers. As obvious from the Find New Roads ad that aired during February’s Grammy Awards, Chevy thinks of the Sonic as the wild and fun one its lineup. A low-starting price, plenty of space to support a wide range of hobbies, and spunky performance have helped to make the Sonic popular pick with the up-and-coming twenty something crowd.

Strong color choices, from wardrobes to fixed gear bikes, have been a distinguishing factor of this generation. To celebrate this trend, Chevy is releasing two special edition Sonic colors in limited release. A Deep Magenta Metallic 2014 Chevy Sonic is the first vehicle in the lineup and will be available from August to October.

We know that about one-third of our Sonic buyers note exterior color as an ‘extremely important’ factor in their purchase process – a higher percentage than other small car buyers,” said Michelle Killen, lead creative designer in General Motors’ color and trim studio and exterior paint expert for Chevrolet.

Chevy had already had success with the Techno Pink body color on the Sonic smaller sister, the Spark. After the Inferno Orange option was dropped from the nameplate, Chevy decided to use a similarly reddish hue on the Sonic. What other colors are in store for the Sonic? After Deep Magenta Metallic, the Sonic will be available in Cool Blue, a “greyish, dirt blue,” from November until March. Dragon Green will follow that and be a more permanent addition to the Sonic’s palette.

A great list of options has also helped to make the Sonic a popular buy. Standard features on the 2013 Sonic Hatchback include:

• Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
• An auxiliary input jack for the audio system
• A 60/40 split rear bench
