2015 Used Ford F-150 Models

Kicking things off, the 13th generation of the Ford F-150 models starts with the 2015 version. This was a turning point for the manufacturing of this particular vehicle. It underwent a full redesign before the production wheels began to turn, which resulted in one of the best production runs that the F-150 has ever seen.

Available in three body styles, three bed lengths, and five trims, the vast number of configurations ensures that you can find exactly what you’re looking for. At any given time, you may be able to find a regular cab, SuperCab, or SuperCrew model on our lot. Bed lengths will vary depending on the configuration, but you can easily find 5.5-ft, 6.5-ft, and 8-ft beds. If you have a specific configuration in mind, let our experts know. If we don’t have it in stock, we can get you on a waitlist.

As for powertrains, the 2015 Ford F-150 models were made with four engine variations. The standard powertrain uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 282 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque. Then, we have the turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 motor that pumps out 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Next is the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that generates 365 hp and 420 lb-ft torque. And the final option is a powerful 5.0-liter V8 that pushes out 385 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque.

As for trims, the base XL version comes with cloth upholstery, a height-adjustable steering wheel, and an infotainment interface displayed on a 4.2-inch monitor. Bluetooth connectivity allows for hands-free text messaging and calling. The regular cab trucks come with a 4-speaker sound system, and the longer cabins feature 6-speaker stereo systems.

Next, the XLT gets the upgraded Sync infotainment system with smartphone integration, a USB port, and an auxiliary jack. You can also add a variety of options to this trim. These include larger wheels, extended side mirrors for hauling a trailer, a sunroof, and several advanced safety features, including inflatable seatbelts, rear cross-traffic alert, and blindspot monitoring.

The most popular trim is the Lariat. It adds LED lighting to the truck bed, remote start technology, a power-sliding rear window, and parking sensors. Inside, you will find several other upgrades including dual-zone climate control, heated/ventilated leather seats, driver memory settings, and a 110-volt power outlet. This model also gets the MyFord Touch infotainment interface displayed on a much larger 8-inch touchscreen.

Finally, the two top trims are the King Ranch and the Platinum. These two vehicles are essentially the same as far as comfort, convenience, and safety features go. The difference between them is purely cosmetic. The King Ranch features a cowboy-inspired style, and the Platinum is sleeker and more sophisticated.

There were only two major changes made to the 2016 production line of F-150 trucks. First, the MyFord Touch infotainment system was retired, and the Sync 3 system became the new kid on the block. The original Sync is still the standard on the base model, but the XLT models and above all get the Sync 3 upgrade, which included Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless audio and app streaming.

The other change was to the trim level lineup. The Limited trim became the newest and most luxurious trim available. To this day, it is still the king. Riding on massive 22-inch wheels, it comes fully loaded with all of the aforementioned state-of-the-art technology. It also includes the Pro Trailer Backup Assist system. This innovative add-on turns the task of hooking up a trailer into a one-person job.

Again, only two major changes occurred for the 2017 production line. Ford engineers decided to revamp one of the powertrains and add a new trim level for optimized off-roading. It’s tweaks like these that make Ford such a beloved automaker.

First on the list of changes was a rebuild for the base powertrain. For 2017, the 3.5-liter V6 engine was replaced by a new engine with the same displacement but ten more horsepower. Further, the 6-speed automatic that was originally coupled with the 3.5L was replaced with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic.

The second major addition to the 2017 Ford F-150 lineup was the inclusions of the new Raptor model. Through 2015 and 2016, the folks at Ford noticed that fans had taken a liking to the FX4 Off-Road package. Because it was so successful, they decided to retire the package and create a new off-roading trim level known as the Raptor. Featuring 4WD, a modified suspension, a reinforced frame, fender flares, and protective skid plates, the Raptor’s sole purpose was to head out into the wild for adventures and thrills. The interior was decked out in a leather/cloth combo, and it rode on 17-inch wheels with off-road tires.

Finally happy with the lineup of trim levels, the engineers at Ford shifted their focus to a new goal. They had wanted to bring back the SuperDuty lineup for quite some time, but it just hadn’t happened yet. Luckily, the 2018 production year was just the right time to unveil the new F-250 and F-350 SuperDuty models.

As for the 2018 F-150 models, the only changes that were made at this time were to the powertrain lineup. The 2.7-liter Ecoboost V6 motor gained another 25 lb-ft of torque, the 5.0L V8 received 10 more hp and 13 more lb-ft of torque, and the 10-speed transmission became more available. Finally, a sparkling new PowerStroke diesel engine came onto the scene and was well received by fans who prefer driving diesel vehicles.

2019 and 2020 Used Ford F-150 Models

The last two years of production didn’t get very many updates. Aside from some safety and entertainment systems, the newer used F-150 models are mostly the same. In 2019, emergency braking and forward-collision warning became standard on all trims. Meanwhile, a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot was added to every trim level in 2020, and a new appearance package was included as an option as well.
