Vintage from the 1940s

Fiesta pottery was introduced by the Homer Laughlin China Company of Newell, West Virginia in 1936 with five original colors: red, yellow, cobalt blue, green, and ivory. Turquoise was added in 1937. The first six colors were produced through the 1930's and 1940's until a change in fashion dictated a change to softer pastel colors at the beginning of the 1950's. At the end of 1972, Fiesta was retired after 37 years of production. However in 1985, Bloomingdales department store introduced a new Fiestaware line and the identifying mark was in blue versus imprinted.

This Fiesta 12" Chop Plate in the original green glaze is probably an early version from 1937 to 1950 before the addition of the Fiesta ink-stamp on the bottom of ceramic ware. The chop plate is in good condition with minor surface scratches on the upper plate and minor wear of the glaze on the bottom rim otherwise there are no chips, cracks, or glaze crazing. In fact, the plate appears to have only been lightly used. This Fiesta chop plate would make a beautiful serving plate or an attractive addition to any collection of mid-century ceramics!

The chop plate will be bubble wrapped and packed securely in a one cardboard box then packed in a second box and shipped USPS Priority Mail which includes tracking and insurance.
