The legendary Chevelle nameplate from Chevrolet is a well-remembered and sought-after muscle car, produced from 1964 to 1977 under three distinct generations, it was discontinued due to its waning sales in its latter years. However, the Chevrolet Chevelle from the earlier years are cars to behold. The first generation Chevelle SS was produced from 1964 to 1967 and quickly gained a cult following. Up for grabs is a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with a host of tasty upgrades and available with just 81,600 miles on the odometer.
Painted in Regal Red this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS looks outright menacing yet stately. The front features a black grille guard with the “SS 396” logo in the middle while dual headlights flank it on either side. It also features dual vents on the hood. The rear features taillights embedded within the chrome and overall design, while the Chevelle lettering is situated in the middle with the “SS 396” logo on the right hand side. A chrome front and rear bumpers dominate the overall look. The car sits on a set of vintage OEM Chevrolet wheels polished to a mirror shine. The interior features a black vinyl and wood trim aesthetic. Dominating the interior is a vintage 3-spoke steering wheel done in a metal substrate and wood with the Chevrolet logo on the center cap. The car is equipped with black leather bucket seats and the original AM/FM/cassette player is also in place. The passenger side of the dash is host to the “Super Sport” lettering. A factory option is the center of the console located analog clock with a black dial and yellow hands.
What put the SuperSport in the Chevrolet Chevelle SS is the massive and aptly named 396 cu in 6.5L Big Block V8 while the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. This Chevelle SS has a chrome overflow tank installed, while the radiator has been converted to a dual electric setup. The V8 has undergone performance upgrades in the form of long-tube headers, dual exhausts, and a 4.11 rear switched over to a 3.73 ratio. The already impressive suspension has also been upgraded.
