Efforts to bring what would eventually become the Corvette to market began as early as 1951, when Harley Earl, GM's head of styling, decided to convince the company to build a sports car. Earl eventually persuaded GM that an all-American two-door sports car was a must-have in their arsenal, and work began shortly after. The 1958 model, such as our subject car, received some extensive styling changes to celebrate four years of Corvette. "It was the only Corvette on O'uha for the four years I was stationed there," said its previous owner. "A real people magnet and social provider." It's imaginable, as, during the era of chrome and quad headlights, this all original 1958 model that now resides in California was the car to be in.
The exterior is finished in what GM calls Snowcrest white and combines perfectly with all the chrome fittings that are an iconic feature of this new generation Corvette. The 58 model was also the first to welcome quad headlights, a well sought-after design at the time. The long and sleek body of the two-door convertible has never been restored and sits on a set of vintage wide whitewall tires with chrome hubcaps. On the subject of vintage American sports cars, it only seems appropriate that this Corvette boasts its exclusive signet red, a beautiful contrasting interior inclusive of a red dashboard, center console, and even red leather seats. The previous owner claims that the car is in sublime condition with all numbers matching. "Prior to my purchase, I had the vette inspected, no sign of any structural damage or repairs. I have all maintenance paperwork from the time of my purchase".
The Chevy sports a complete 283ci 4.6L small-block 2-4 carb V8 engine that has reportedly had a powertrain overhaul. Up to 245 horses are pushed to the wheels via a standard 4-speed manual transmission.

The Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is a timeless classic whose design lends itself towards some amazing restorations, rebuilds, and resto-mods. The Chevelle was conceived as Chevrolet’s midsized model, sitting above the Chevy II Nova, and below larger cars such as the Impala. The first-generation Chevelle sports clean lines and an elegant silhouette, with a large grille, plenty of chrome, and four headlamps up front. Based on the A-Body platform, the 1964–1967 generation of Chevelle was availble in a variety of configurations, including 2-door sedan, convertible, four-door sedan, coupe utility, and station wagon variations. Our featured car is a 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, which features a new V8 engine and transmission, and well as many new cosmetic and mechanical parts to make this classic car look show-ready. The current owner reports that the car is offered with its original engine and steering column.
