1978 Ford F-150 Is One Stunning Blue Beauty
This gorgeous 1978 Ford F-150 reminds us of the time when trucks were trucks. And nothing else!
While we certainly love our shiny new trucks, there’s just something about a classic Ford. And if you’re talking vintage Blue Oval pickups, few stand up to the legendary 1978 Ford F-150. The culmination of what many feel is the perfect body style and legendary toughness, these trucks stand alone atop most people’s “ultimate trucks” list. And this gorgeous four-wheel drive, short bed example might be the nicest one we’ve ever seen.
We spotted the blue stunner over at Gateway Classic Cars, where we immediately fell in love. While it might be an F-150 and not an F-250, this truck still reminds us of the legendary Bigfoot monster truck. Perhaps it’s the blue paint or the throwback mags, or maybe the stance. Regardless, it just doesn’t get much better. It’s no surprise that this 1978 Ford F-150 has been in the same family since it was purchased new in May of 1977.
Obviously, that gorgeous blue paint is a respray, but we won’t deduct points for that. You’ll find a 400 under the hood, which has also been rebuilt. It’s backed up by a 4-speed manual with the old school granny gear, just like a ’70s truck should be. Power steering and front disc brakes are luxury options when you’re talking about a truck from this era, too.
We’re also digging the spartan interior. Flat vinyl bench, rubber floor mat and all. Because this was an era when trucks truly were trucks, and little else. You weren’t going to fit your family of six in here, nor were you concerned with things like comfort. All that mattered was that your truck started up every time you needed it, year after year. And that’s all you really need, isn’t it?
