1980 Ford F-250 With 76 Original Miles Doesn’t Even Seem Real
Pinch yourselves, because this amazing time capsule of a Bullnose Ford F-250 is a real time warp to look at.
In recent years, we’ve come across quite a few low-mile Blue Oval pickups built decades ago. Some have been found in barns or garages, stored away, and used sparingly for a variety of reasons. But never do we come across 40-year-old Ford trucks with less than 100 miles on them. These kinds of things just don’t exist, do they? We’ll pinch yourselves, because this 1980 Ford F-250 that was recently up for sale at 920 Automotive does indeed seem very real.
Adding to this truck’s mystique is the fact that this older Ford F-250 never seems to have been listed on 920 Automotive’s web site for sale, but the car dealer did make a walkaround video of it, at least. We’re guessing that someone swooped in and bought the pickup rather quickly, which isn’t really a surprise given the fact that it might be the lowest-mile example in existence.
We don’t have detailed information on this truck or a story as to why it only has 76 original miles, but we can at least comb over it with our eyes. And oh, what a delight that is. The interior, in particular, is in simply incredible condition. The dash and every little piece of trim seem factory fresh, providing us with a little time warp back to a very different time. A time when trucks were simple utilitarian tools and not luxurious, technology-laden barges.
The blue-on-blue beauty even has its original window sticker still stuck to the driver’s side glass. There, we can see a few details about the truck. It’s finished in Midnight Blue Metallic, and is a four-wheel-drive model powered by Ford’s 351 V8 backed up by a three-speed automatic transmission. Otherwise, it’s a fairly simple pickup, one with rubber floor mats and little else.
Underneath, we’re treated to a frame and mechanicals that don’t appear to have ever been exposed to any sort of inclement weather, in spite of those knobby tires. Even the bed is scratch-free, which isn’t something you see terribly often on trucks of this vintage. And on the tailgate, we can see that this Ford F-250 was originally sold at Frontier Ford in Rockford, Illinois, where it would have definitely seen some road salt on an annual basis if it had actually been driven.
This hidden gem still has its registration card taped to the front window as well, which expired back on April 15, 1980. All of these things tell an intriguing story and one that we wish we could hear more of. This F-250 is an enigma of sorts, a mystery waiting to be solved. Unfortunately, for now, we’re just left to fill in the gaps with what little information we have about this truck that shouldn’t exist.
