Gorgeous 1997 Ford F-250 Is One Well-Kept Work Truck
This very nice 1997 Ford F-250 isn’t some blue-chip collectible, but it will make someone a fantastic driver.
Against all odds, we’re seeing more and more pristine old heavy-duty trucks pop up for sale on a regular basis. One might think that these trucks were all used up and thrown away, or at least hanging on by a bare thread, but that apparently isn’t always the case. The latest example of this phenomenon is this gorgeous 1997 Ford F-250 currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer. This isn’t some super low-mile gem, however, but rather, a nicely-kept example of its breed that still has plenty of life left in it.
The SuperCab, short bed, four-wheel-drive 1997 Ford F-250 certainly looks great in its Toreador Red Metallic paint and is well-equipped with Ford’s Preferred Equipment Package and Trailer Towing Package. The exterior isn’t perfect, of course, and has some scratches and other imperfections here and there, but that doesn’t diminish it in our eyes. In fact, we just see those as battle scars from this truck’s many years of faithful service.
The red pickup rolls on a set of polished 16-inch forged aluminum wheels which are wrapped with 265/75 Ironman All Country A/T tires. It’s equipped with automatic locking front hubs and power-assisted steering and brakes, which makes the drive a bit more pleasant. As far as the cabin goes, well, it’s pretty much awash in luxury by 1990s pickup standards, with features including Opal Grey cloth upholstery, front seats with power-adjustable lumbar support, a folding center armrest and storage console, a CD stereo, air conditioning, cruise control, remote keyless entry, and power windows and mirrors.
Other than its very nice condition, the other main appealing factor of this vintage F-250 is what lies under the hood – Ford’s 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel, which has traveled a mere 93k miles. This legendary powerplant generated 225 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque when new, and will easily last another few decades without breaking a sweat. And it’s backed up by a five-speed manual gearbox, which isn’t something you see every day.
Altogether, this very nice 1997 F-250 is a cool find that isn’t likely to be stored away in a climate-controlled garage. Instead, it’ll make someone a nice, reliable driver and hauler, just as The Blue Oval intended.
