Orange Crush: This 1940 Ford is one Stunning Street Rod
It’s hard to argue that the 1940-era Ford cars and trucks are among the best looking vehicles ever produced. Their iconic styling has stood the test of time, and their luscious curves make for a fantastic base for a killer street rod.
Unlike many rods out there, this street rod is 100% steel, with no fiberglass fenders to be seen. The front-end has been swapped out with one from a ’39 passenger car, and most of the chrome has been deleted for a smooth appearance. All the good stuff, like the teardrop headlight trim and grill, has been retained, however.
That attention grabbing orange paint is show car quality, accenting the smooth lines of the truck perfectly. Equally stunning is the interior, which is covered in miles of tan leather. The factory dash is filled with Classic Instruments gauges, and a Colorado Customs steering wheel matches the wheels on the exterior.
Fittingly, power is provided by Ford in the form of a 302 block, fitted with a FAST fuel injection setup and backed up by a 4-speed AOD transmission. The engine bay is every bit as clean as the rest of the truck, which is truly show-worthy. Conveniently, an air-ride suspension helps keep those gorgeous fenders from scraping on speed bumps.
The overall package is one stunning street rod that is ready to win trophies everywhere it goes. With all the 30’s and 40’s Ford street rods out there, it’s time we see more trucks on the scene. This orange 1940 pickup truck is a great way to start!
