1973 Truck Colors

Hi Guys,

I am going to be repainting my truck very soon. It is completely stock and I was wondering if our trucks are worth more if left original or customized. I would like to change the colors on mine but i have not seen this specific color combination on many of these trucks. The colors are Ford Wind Blue and Medium Blue. Any insight into what would be best? Sorry for the blurry pictures:

Thanks!

Going with factory colors will be kinder to your wallet. A complete color change involves disassembling the entire vehicle.

Thanks HIO Silver....thats exactly what I was told by the body shop. They said going with the same colors would be cheaper than painting it red....for example. They said it would require more paint, materials and work to make the change.

Big time... Plus red pigmented paint tends to be more expensive.

There are things you can do to save yourself money plus get a better quality paint job and that is to remove all the trim yourself .. wipers, mirrors, bumpers, hood bumpers, emblems, grill shell, antenna, bed rails, door handles, etc... Why pay a high school kid working at the shop $70 per hour when you can do it yourself? Strip it naked as far down as reasonably possible. FYI.. bag all loose wiring harnesses/plugs to avoid overspray.

I drove to the shop in my 68 Mustang with the headlights and taillights taped in place. When I got to the shop I took them off brought them home.

As far as the paint scheme change being a wise move to resale it, it all depends on the buyer. You truck looks very nice and stock and quite the survivor.

Yes at "stock" repaint is cheaper, and a interior dash, door jams ect...and exterior major color change can be $$$.

Maybe all blue like the bottom? Not a major change and no interior work will save you some $$.

And yes X2 on pull all you can yourself to make it cheaper. Mirrors, and all above listed. Also decide if you want a indept trim off paint job or a mask and spray.
