Orange Crush

Ford pickups from the 1970s are everywhere these days, and it's quite obvious why. These beautifully-designed trucks are nice to drive, reliable, and tough as nails. But one thing you rarely see, of course, are these trucks sporting the color orange. And judging by this awesome '73 F-100 we spotted at Bring a Trailer, that's a real shame.

Family Heirloom

You won't find many classic pickups with a more impressive ownership history than this one, either. It was purchased new by the previous owner's grandparents, and remained in that family's possession until late 2018.

Acquired Taste

The seller acquired the pickup via BaT, added roughly 500 miles, and decided to part ways with it via the same venue. No telling why, but older pickups aren't for everyone, obviously.

Minor Updates

On the outside, this beautiful truck looks largely stock. But the rear fenders were repainted in the '90s, presumably because of rust. The front has also been touched up to cover up the various rock chips its suffered over the years.

Laws of Attraction

There's no denying that this thing looks pretty darn cool, however. That Burnt Orange paint, when combined with white stripes, is undeniably attractive. Even the hub caps looks pretty nice, and that's something we don't say often.

Classic Style

The headlights have been replaced with more modern LED units, but that's the extent of mods here. Otherwise, the exterior of this F-100 is nothing less than pure classic style.

Stellar Threads

On the inside, it's just more of the same. The bench seat is also covered in orange vinyl, with striped cloth inserts breaking up the theme. The driver's side portion off the seat has been touched up, but the interior looks fantastic overall.

Stay Warm

There are a few black accents here to break things up as well, including the dash cap, seat belts, and steering wheel/column. A rubber floor mat represents the basic essentials, and ensures that your feet stay nice and toasty on long drives.

Sleeper?

Despite the stock appearance of the rest of this F-100, it's a different story under the hood. There you'll find a modified a '90s vintage 302 that's been bored and stroked to 331 cubic inches. Goodies include an Eagle crank and rods, Mahle pistons, ARP bolts, AFR heads, a Comp cam, Weiand intake, and QFT 4-barrel carb.

Hot Rod in Disguise

Thus, this old Ford is actually more of a hot rod in disguise. But what's wrong with having a truck that looks cool and understated yet'll also bring a smile to your face every time you mash to go pedal?
