Just Like Any '94 F-150 -- Not!
The SVT Lightning trim was designed with a different front fascia from all the other F-150s of its day —one that looks properly retro and sporty, and frankly more in step with today’s pickup truck designs. The truck was conceived as a competitor to popular performance-tuned Chevrolet trucks of the same era. While the Lightning shared much of its structure with the standard F-150, extensive modifications were made to the suspension and frame in order to improve the handling and give it a more performance-savvy feel.

Hella Fly
Though a tad slow by today’s standards, this STV Lightning offers 240-horsepower and 340 pound-feet of torque, good for a zero-to-sixty time of 7.2 seconds —very sporty for a pickup truck of its era. The Lightning was produced from 1993 to 1995; it was discontinued as Ford began design work on the 1997 F-150.

Automatic for the People
The SVT Lightning featured a console-mounted shifter, custom bucket seats, and a flow-through center console not found in any other F-150. Unfortunately, the 240-horsepower Ford engine was only mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, with no manual option available.

Like Being Low
The short-lived SVT Lightning did, however, offer much better handling than typical F-150s of its era thanks to sporty modifications to the suspension and frame. This particular truck has been lowered 2.5 inches from stock and features one-inch front and rear anti-roll bars.

Don't Call it a Comeback
The truck is a picture-perfect throwback to a time when automakers were trying to decide whether drivers wanted performance or power from their trucks. By the 2000s they’d have their answer: they wanted both!
