2020 Genesis G80 vs 2019 Genesis G80: What's New?

The 2019 Genesis G80 measures 197″ L x 74″ W x 58″ H. It features a ground clearance of 5.3 inches and has standard 18-inch polished alloy wheels. There are 9 exterior color options including Casablanca White, Havana Red, and Adriatic Blue.
2019 Genesis G80 Performance
The 2019 Genesis G80 comes with three engine options. There’s the base 3.8-liter V6 that pumps out 311 horsepower. The G80 Sport provides a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 and 365 horsepower. There is also a 420-horsepower V8 available. An eight-speed automatic comes with all of the engines. The best gas mileage is 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway with the G80 3.8.

The 2019 Genesis G80 has room for five people. Leather seats are standard as well as heated front seats. The well-designed trunk provides 15.3-cubic feet of space and a standard hands-free feature. Other standard features in the Genesis G80 in Colorado Springs include an infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an HD Radio, satellite radio, and navigation system.

The 2019 Genesis G80 Sport contains the 3.3-liter turbocharged engine that pumps out 365 horsepower. It also comes with front sport seats, alloy sport pedals, and standard head-up display. Some of the interior upgrades include premium leather upholstery, a 9.2-inch touch screen, power rear window sunshades, and 17-speaker Quantum Logic surround-sound system. The 2019 Genesis G80 is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, which is the highest designation it can receive. It also received a five-star rating from the NHTSA. Standard safety technology includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic braking. Other equipment on every model includes adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, lane keep assist, a driver attention monitor, high-beam assist, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and rear cross-traffic alert.

2020 Genesis G80 Exterior
We will have some new styling changes with the 2020 Genesis G80 exterior. So far we know it will have a similar hexagonal-shaped grille plus dual-bar headlights. The side mirrors are moved from the A-pillars to the doors instead. The trunk lid also comes with a flat light design.
2020 Genesis G80 Performance
It’s expected that the 2020 Genesis G80 will still feature the 3.8-liter and 3.3-liter turbocharged engine options. The only addition that might occur is a new plug-in hybrid setup in place of the V8 engine. It’s not confirmed yet if Genesis plans to electrify this model or the Genesis G70 in Colorado Springs.

We don’t expect any configuration changes with the 2020 Genesis G80. It should still hold five people comfortably and have the same amount of trunk space. We do expect a new digital instrument cluster plus a larger infotainment screen. There might even be some additional driver aids included as standard equipment.
2020 Genesis G80 Sport
The 2020 Genesis G80 Sport is what everyone wants to know more about. At this time, we expect the model to be included in the new lineup but aren’t sure what changes will occur. Unless there are major changes in performance, the 2020 G80 Sport will come equipped with the same 3.3L engine and other interior amenities. We will have to wait until all of the new Genesis G80 cars arrive in Colorado Springs to be sure.

Since the 2019 model excelled in safety ratings, we expect a similar safety suite with the 2020 Genesis G80. Standard safety equipment such as forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, lane keep assist, a driver attention monitor, high-beam assist, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and rear cross-traffic alert will carryover.
