Detailing my 2017 SE Carbon Steel Grey Metallic

I recently bought my 2017 GTI and I love it. It's the first new car I've ever bought. My previous car was a 2004 GTI 1.8T, which I washed and detailed every other week or so for the first couple of years. Now that I have a new car, I've got the detail bug again. I did some research and came across Chemical Guys. Their products seemed easy to use and got generally favorable reviews. I don't have access to a water hose where I live, so I looked into rinse free solutions and found out about Optimum No Rinse. I've been using the two bucket method, washing a panel at a time, and so far, I've gotten great results. I gave my car a light claying and sealed it with Chemical Guys Jet Seal. I topped that off with some Butter Wet Wax and recently laid down a coat of Instawax. The Instawax really brought out the shine on my paint and I'm happy with how easy it was to apply. For the interior, I use Inner Clean to remove the dust and top it off with Silk Shine. I conditioned the seats with Sprayable Leather, which has a nice leather smell and made the already new seats look even newer. My wife's Sonata has leather seats and the sides had blue jean marks. The leather cleaner took it right off. I use VRP on the tires and outer black trim. I have tinted windows, so I use ammonia free Sprayway glass cleaner. Anyways, that's my process and the car looks better than new now.

TL;DR: Optimum No Rinse and Chemical Guys are awesome.

Looks great. I detailed my CSG after the dealer butchered it and it shines but damn is it hard to keep clean.

My old car was reflex silver and it looked clean even when it was dirty. My CSG shows dirt and dust much easier. Bought the Speed Wipe quick detailer to hold me over in between washes.

Chemical guys is awesome stuff. I ordered quite a bit of stuff a while back and I have been pleased with the results on my wife's Pure White Passat. When my GTI gets delivered the first nice day I get off work it will get a wash, clay, and Carbon flex coating. Your car looks great.

How does that work out? Does it spread around the dirt at all, thus leaving potential for scratches when wiping? Deep Black Pearl owner here. Thought i was up to the challenge of a black car, however my OCD is completely owning me.. If i had the time, i'd wash the car 3 times a week. Looks amazing after a wash, but since i have to park outside (for now) its filthy within a couple days, specifically with water marks from morning dew...

I only use the Speed Wipe if the car was recently cleaned. I wouldn't use it on a car that is very dirty. The pollen here has been pretty bad, so an hour after washing and waxing my car, there is a layer of pollen on it. The Speed Wipe takes it right off.

that that might help me with combating water marks in between washes and washing the lip near the hatch?

It will probably help. I've only used it a few times and it was a day or two after washing the car after it got coated in pollen. It's worth a shot!
