Probus welcomes its new president in the Garioch

Members of the Garioch Probus Club at a recent meeting offered congratulations as their new president took up office.

Outgoing president Victor Johnston handed over his chain of office to new president Graham Ritchie of the Garioch Probus Club.

This a body of both genders for retired people who come together to hear interesting speakers every two weeks at the Kintore Arms Hotel in Inverurie and provides an opportunity to make new friends.

They meet every two weeks on a Wednesday and at their meeting welcomed Dr Jane Ross as a guest of members Eric Rae.

Member Mike Barron explained: "Dr Ross gave a comprehensive talk on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which caused Garioch Probus members to think hard on friends, relatives and themselves.

"She referred to individuals whose lives have been hampered by distressing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

"These issues can affect anybody, and will probably affect everybody at some point in their lives.

"Learning to understand the problem and having the tools at your disposal can help you recover now and help you stay well in the future.

"This was another outstanding talk for the all the members present."
